Carolyn Mayling, Charity Founder said: “The excitement is building and there will be plenty of work behind the scenes making the Gala extra special. I am also thrilled that there will be the first public reading of the latest children’s book I have written called Rosie’s Rainbow Conga which is beautifully illustrated by accomplished artist Ursula Hurst and will be shown on a giant screen.
Another FIRST will be the live performance of newly written Rosie’s Rainbow Conga song written by Dean Amer with Lyrics by Carolyn Mayling and Dean Amer, performed by a troupe of specially selected young singers.
“The fabulous bonus for audiences this year is the live launch and audience involvement of the accompanying ‘Make the Conga Longa’ Social Media charity campaign which is a great companion to the book highlighting the benefits of music therapy. We hope people will be encouraged to do the dance with friends, family and even pets! We thought wouldn’t it be fun if people do this conga around the world and we are hoping the audiences and our followers and influencers will make this happen.”
Following the tragic death of budding performer Rosie Mayling in 2003, her family honoured Rosie’s wish to help sick children by founding Rosie’s Rainbow Fund. Since its inception, the charity has raised millions of pounds to provide music therapists, family support and bereavement counselling for people with very sick children in hospital.
PRESS RELEASE
Motorcyclists Embrace Conga and Raise £1040
Rosie’s Rainbow Fund has launched a joyful new conga song and dance to raise awareness of music therapy for seriously ill children – to be recorded soon
Motorcycle enthusiasts the "Ides of March" Charity Bike Ride raised £1040 on March 23 for Rosie’s Rainbow Fund, the Maidenhead based charity dedicated to supporting sick and disabled children and their families.
The 30-mile event attracted 104 bikes which revved off from The Old Red Lion, Tetsworth near Thame on a loop circuit witnessed by families and supporters including charity founder Carolyn Mayling who waved them off and welcomed their return.
Carolyn said: “It was wonderful seeing so many support our charity and the money raised will be a great benefit to many facing tough times with very sick children. Their outfits were comical and it is clear they have fun at these events which do so much good.
“ It is wonderful to learn they plan to support my next venture which features a new conga song and dance which has been specially created by Rosie’s Rainbow Fund and will be recorded soon at the famous Crypt recording studio in London in April. Apart from comical tutus some bikers willingly wore some of our special yellow Make the Conga Longa tee shirts.” (Pictured.)
Background
The “Ides of March and September” charity rides have become significant events for motorcycle enthusiasts. It is part of the Rides of Ides Facebook group celebrating motorcycle culture and charitable behaviour.
Event organisers Edd and Tracey Moore have been running charity cycle rides since March 2023. It was initially meant to be a one- off charity ride in private memory to Edd’s brother, Richard, who sadly passed in his sleep aged 53 and was founder of a famous bike ride in Northampton.
Tracey said: “We then made the decision to do a charity ride every March and September, making it the potential first and last ride of the biking season, open to all motorbikes from 125cc upwards. The first charity ride was for MND but has since been for Rosie’s Rainbow Fund.
New to the ride this year was the request for riders to wear tutus if they feel like really getting into the spirit of things. After all, it is Rosie’s RAINBOW fund, so we wanted to bring colour to the ride and make it memorable for all who see us along the route. It’s been a learning curve, but it has become a well oiled machine.
We have amazingly loyal supporters and marshalls and very slowly we are building a reputation for a great fun ride. My lasting memory from this most recent ride was the first group of bikers to turn up were burly, bearded Harley Davidson riders all in tutus.
Children’s charity single recording in London April 2026
The countdown has begun to turn a brand new conga song into a global craze — and raise vital awareness of the transformative power of music therapy for seriously ill children. Rosie’s Rainbow Fund, the Thames Valley charity dedicated to supporting hospitalised children and their families, has set its sights on making the Rosie’s Rainbow Conga a movement that unites communities worldwide.
Fifteen young singers have been successfully auditioned for the special recording, and have had rehearsals at Redroofs School for the Performing Arts in Maidenhead with music producer and musical director Colin Zammitt.
Storybook, Single and Gala Debut
